Maggie Dutton

Maggie Dutton graduated from East Carolina University with a BS in Interior Design in 1998. She has worked for accomplished interior design firms throughout the state for over 17 years. Maggie was a product designer for a well-known lamp, accessory and furniture company named Wildwood where she traveled the world researching design trends and gathering antiques.

Maggie moved to the Pinehurst area in 2005, where she worked as the manager and Interior Designer of a locally owned furniture store. Soon after, she purchased the business and gained a great client base. Most recently she has been with Cabinetry of Pinehurst designing kitchens and bathrooms for design clients, homeowners and builders in Moore County.

Maggie has a great eye for color and loves putting colors and furnishings that not only work great but look great. Her new clients are refreshed by her easy-going nature, understanding of needs and budgets, and ability to visualize their wants and needs. She works closely with her clients to ensure they will love their space for years to come.

I worked with Maggie for two years on a whole house redecorating project to create a light and airy look in my home. Finished product is exactly what we wanted and all the workmanship is of the highest quality. We love it and get lots and lots of compliments from everyone who visits!!

Maggie is very patient –Never rushed me or pushed me into decisions. She is pleasant and fun to work with. Very courteous - Helped me avoid mistakes by tactful and thoughtful comments on my design choices. Always acknowledged and accommodated my personal style likes and dislikes. Never imposed or prioritized her design preferences at the expense of mine.

Maggie has developed an extensive network of high quality and reliable resources -upholsterers , fabrics, accessories, re-modeling, installations-everything & anything I needed.

Priced very fairly and pricing reflected the market value of products and services. Quotations were detailed and accurate. Always timely in responding to calls or emails.

When my husband, Ted, and I were moving from a large historic home in the Village of Pinehurst to a small 1980's era retirement condo, we contacted Maggie Dutton, at first, because she is part of the kitchen and bath design team at Cabinetry of Pinehurst, and we needed to revamp those areas from floor to ceiling. I had not planned on using anyone for other design work because I'm a bit of a "hobby decorator" in my own spaces. However, as Maggie allowed me to bounce ideas off of her, and the relationship grew,

it soon became clear that we needed to employ her for the purpose of getting the design right, from scale to color, from appliances to upholstery, from lighting to wine racks. The results are delightful because they reflect our vision, but are made better by the boundaries and guidance Maggie so capably provided. Her attention to detail, her technical knowledge, and her aesthetic flair are second to none, yet she allowed me to feel like a true partner. Should we ever embark on another project, she'll be the first person I call!

Maggie Dutton, Interior Designer for Southern Prime

We are very excited to announce that Maggie Dutton, of Southern Chic, is the Interior Designer for Southern Prime.

Here is what Maggie had to say about her vision for Southern Prime and her approach.

"My vision for the restaurant is to keep in theme with the Masculine, but elegant finishes that the architectural firm finished the interior with. The interior is finished in what I call the "new traditional" style. The finishes have a touch of what our mothers loved with a modern edge."

"The dining chairs are a bit larger than your average chair with a dark mahogany finish and tan leather seats. The barstools are the same dark finish with masculine upholstery that blends with the royal colors on the walls and floors. The tables will be chunky wood."

"The restaurant has a southern edge but New York style. The restaurant will be comfortable, warm, and elegant. I think the guests are going to feel hip in this interior."
